Horsehide holsters have long been equated with high quality, the best holster that money could buy, strong, dense, more water and sweat resistant than cowhide, longer wearing, and they just smell darn good!  I am offering all holsters, with the exception of the pocket holster, in premium horsehide with the same detailed boning and attention to fitting and craftsmanship as the other holsters.  These holsters are entirely hand sewn, hand edged, finished and delivered to you with pride to give you years of uncompromising use.

Horsehide has its own characteristics which define it as holster leather.  It is much denser than cowhide, yet it molds well to your specific firearm.  The leather is stronger than cowhide, and thus is more resistant to stretching which gives it many years of usability.  A bit of controversy surrounds horsehide water resistance.  There was a time when the current leather sealants were not available, and at that time horsehide was THE choice to keep sweat and condensation off your firearm.  Today, the sealants that I use for cowhide give the same level of protection.  So why choose horsehide?  This is a strictly personal preference.  Longer life, strength, knowing you have the best there is in the holster market…and it just smells darn good, too!

If you are not sure if we have a mold in stock for your firearm, please visit the models page or contact me via the email page.

Holster Options

This holster comes standard with a sweat or body shield. You can choose a tension screw at no additional cost, and you can choose your personal color preference. The holster really needs no mouth reinforcement, but if you feel the need, the only reinforcement I am offering at this time is Sharkskin. Not only do I make holsters for lefties, but I can also give you contrasting stitching if you prefer.

Horsehide Holster Policy

Horsehide, like many commodities, can be in short supply which creates headaches for both the customer and me as the maker. I will be keeping a significant stock in my shop; however, there may be times when the supply runs low due to circumstances beyond my control. For this reason I have established the following horsehide and exotic leather and skin policy:

"Since horsehide and certain exotic leathers and skins availability varies, those customers wishing to have a holster partially, or entirely made of these items may experience longer than typical wait times for their specific leather or skin to become available to me. I will always strive to have enough inventory to meet demand, but supplier availability is beyond my control other than to have back-up suppliers.

In the event a customer's holster comes up for construction, and the specialty leather or skin is not currently in stock, the customer's order will be set aside until that item is back in stock, at which time that specific customer will re-enter the construction process ahead of the next customer in line. This will do nothing to increase wait for the general customer, but will make things right with the customer who had to wait longer due to the material shortage. Additionally, if the shortage of horsehide or the exotic skin or hide appears to be prolonged, the customer(s) ordering that item will be notified with their available options.

In no case will a customer be charged for their holster until all leathers and skins necessary are in stock. All customers effected by a shortage will be contacted with information concerning expected wait times and offered the option of continuing to wait, choose an alternate item, or canceling their order and receiving a refund if they had been charged."

Customer Note

"Effective Immediately, I will no longer give estimated finish dates on each order. As a one man shop I obviously cannot take new orders, finish existing orders, answer emails, and make phone calls all at the same time. Most holsters are delivered in approximately 30 days from the date of payment (no customer is charged until work has started on their holster). In some cases this may be longer...and in those cases I will contact the customer. I will continue to post the month which contains the majority of the orders currently being built. Be prepared to wait if you are emailing or calling with questions regarding a specific product. I will do my best to get back to you in a timely manner. If you are calling, or sending a "where's my holster" email, please do so only after the 30 day period has expired."
